We will close at our regular time all other days.

The library is considering purchasing online streaming videos. We have started trials for several video services:

Library Tips: Accessing LexisNexis From Home

You can access LexisNexis (or any other database) from any computer by going to our Periodicals and Electronic Resources page. Click the link for LexisNexis. It will then ask you for your ID and last name. Your ID is your student ID with a dash in the middle (example: 1234-5678). For the last name, just enter your last name only. Capitalization does not matter. If you are having problems, go to our instructions for more information.

The Library will be closed Thursday, 11/22 through Sunday, 11/25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will re-open on Monday, 11/26. Enjoy your holiday!

FOTL Event: The Persian Room Presents

This lecture will transport you to the most elegant and magical nightspot New York has ever known. In this dishy, personal, and compulsively readable book, Patty describes celebrities’ reminisces about their experiences performing and partying at the Plaza. Don’t miss this star-studded evening!

All proceeds benefit the OCC Library. Books will be available for purchase by Lido Village Books. Extra credit vouchers will be available for students on request.

    Please consider donating your used books to the library! When we receive your donation, we'll evaluate them and either add them to our collection or sell them in our Friends of the Library Book Sale. Either way, you'll be helping the library!

    All donations are tax deductible; a receipt is available at the Reference or Circulation Desk.

    You can drop off books in our Friends bookstore or in the drop off box in Parking Lot E.

    Fall Book Sale 10/23

    Our annual Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale is just around the corner! You can buy great books at great prices! The sale is on Tuesday, October 23rd. The hours are 9 - 10 am for Friends of the Library members and 10 am - 3 pm for everyone. A variety of books will be available from bestsellers, romance, and mysteries to science, art, history and computers. Most books sell for $1.00. The sale will culminate with a "dollar-a-bag" sale from 2 - 3 pm. Anyone may join the Friends of the Library prior to the book sale to take advantage of the one hour "pre-sale" exclusive for Friends members. The sale will be held in front of the library.     Wild & Scenic Film Festival 5/30/12 at 7pm

    The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is coming to OCC for the first time! Considered the largest film festival of its kind, Wild & Scenic combines stellar filmmaking, beautiful cinematography and first-rate storytelling to inform, inspire and ignite solutions and possibilities to restore the earth and human communities while creating a positive future for the next generation. Festival-goers can expect to see award winning films about nature, community activism, and outdoor adventure. The films instill a deep appreciation and a sense of wonder for the natural world that surrounds and supports us.

    Banff Film Festival Tonight!

    The Banff Film Festival is tonight at 7pm in the Robert B. Moore Theatre. Advance tickets are on sale at the OCC Bursar’s Office for $10 ($5 for current OCC students). Tickets will be available at the door for $12. Save $2 on door admission by bringing two or more books, DVDs or CDs per person to donate on the night of the show! Show your donation receipt at the ticket window to claim discount (does not apply to student $5 tickets).

    Orange Coast College will host the "best of the best" from the annual Banff Mountain Film Festival. The BMFF World Tour features an international selection of films that present a wide range of outdoor adventures and portraits, including climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures and the world’s last great wild places. A featured short film will be the Canadian production "Ski Bums Never Die." What does it take to be a ski bum? An unending dedication to powder skiing? The ability to do anything in your ski boots? A lifelong quest for deep snow? Find out with this unusual and inspiring band of skiers in the Kootenay region of British Columbia.

    Library Closed for Spring Break

    The library will be closed for Spring Break from March 26th - April 1st. We will reopen on April 2nd at 8am. You can turn in books and other library materials at our book drops (one is by the library entrance and the other is in Lot E). Our online databases and ebooks will be available during the break.

    The library system will be down from 3/13-3/15 for an upgrade. During this time, the following services will be unavailable:
    • Looking up books and other materials in the online catalog
    • Fine payments
    • Book renewals
    • Holds
    • Library account information will be unavailable
    If you need to use any of the above services, please do so before 3/13.

    During the upgrade, you will still be able to:
    • Check out books with an OCC Student Photo ID
    • Use the textbook collection with an OCC Student Photo ID
    • Check out media items with an OCC Student Photo ID  
    • Use the online databases on campus
    • Use most of the online databases off campus (through MyOCC only - Instructions)

    New Library Databases

    The library has several new databases for your research needs! Through a generous state program, we acquired a large package of databases from Ebsco, including Academic Search Premier, Medline, MasterFile Premier and much more. The library was also able to acquire three collections from JSTOR, three new databases from Gale (Informe, World History in Context and US History in Context) and over 4000 new ebooks from Springer.

    You can access all of these new resources on our electronic resources page. If you have any questions about our databases, please contact Lori Cassidy, the Online Services Librarian.

    Library Workshops for Spring

    The library will be holding workshops starting March 7th. These 60 minute extra-credit workshops, held in the library's lecture room, will teach library and information research skills using print and electronic resources. They will also introduce the library's services and resources. Extra credit slips will be available if requested by your teacher.
