Library Closed from 3/24 - 3/30 for Spring Break

The library will be closed from Monday, March 24 through Sunday, March 30 for Spring Break. We will reopen at 8am on Monday, March 31.

Banff Film Festival on March 19, 2014

Orange Coast College will host the "best of the best" from the annual Banff Mountain Film Festival on Wednesday, March 19th.  The program will begin at 7pm in the OCC Robert B. Moore Theatre. The BMFF World Tour features an international selection of films that present a wide range of outdoor adventures and portraits, including climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures and the world’s last great wild places. Contagious explains the reasons why stories, ideas and media go viral. Berger discusses 6 basic principles that can drive people to share information and media content. This has applications in advertising, but can also be applied to any information that you want to spread. An informative and entertaining read!

Cuba: Our Nearest, Most Distant Neighbor

Claudia Ackley, president of the Orange Coast College Friends of the Library (FOTL) and a retired OCC counselor, will present “Cuba: Our Nearest, Most Distant Neighbor”. The lecture is sponsored by OCC’s Friends of the Library and the Lido Isle Women’s Club. The public is invited to attend. Proceeds will benefit the OCC Library. Refreshments will be served. To reserve a seat, please call (714) 432-5087. Ackley will share her experiences during a recent visit to Cuba, with its historically rich culture and friendly people. “It is a land of contradictions,” Ackley observed. The average income is $25 a month, “but their free educational system boasts a 99% literacy rate.”
