Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour: A Friends of the Library Fundraiser

Come help raise money for the Friends of the Library by watching a selection of short films! 

When: Wednesday, September 25 (7:00 PM)

Where: Robert B. Moore Theatre

The BMFF World Tour features an international selection of films that present a vast range of outdoor adventures and portraits, including climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures and the world's last great wild places!

Admission: $12 for advance tickets; $15 at the door; $5 for OCC students with current ID. Save $3 on admission at the door by donating three or more books, DVDs or CDs per person! Tickets will also be available at local REI stores in Huntington Beach and Tustin. For general information, call (714) 432-0202 x21058. Free parking will be offered at OCC lot C and at the OC Fairgrounds across the street. All proceeds benefit OCC Friends of the Library.

Library Workshops for Fall 2019

The library provides workshops for you to learn how to do library and information research. The goal oof these workshops is based on the mission of information literacy, which is that you, the student, learn  research skills that make you independent and life-long learners. If requested by your teacher, extra credit slips are available. 

Description:

Library and Information Research

These 60 minute extra-credit workshops, held in the library's lecture room, will teach library and information research skills using print and electronic resources. They will also introduce the library's services and resources. Students will learn to identify and access the various library and information resources; to identify scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals; to search discipline-specific and advanced electronic resources; to do research on the web; to evaluate search results for credible resources; to cite their sources in either MLA or APA styles; and to understand how the proper use and citation of library and information resources helps avoid plagiarism.
