FOTL Event: Rise of the Art Deco Movement on 4/22/2014
When: Tuesday, April 22 at 7pm
Where: Lido Isle Clubhouse, 701 Via Lido Soud, Newport Beach
Admission: $5 or a gently used book; free for OCC students with current student photo ID
Irini Rickerson, Orange Coast College professor of art and architecture, will present “Rise of the Art Deco Movement” in a program sponsored by OCC Friends of the Library and the Lido Isle Women’s Club. An optimistic and energetic movement, Art Deco is synonymous with corporate splendor, fast machines and high glamour. Rickerson will identify common characteristics and explore famous examples ranging from painting, architecture, and even cinema! Rickerson was Orange County Teacher of the Year and OCC Faculty Member of the Year in 1993-94. During her annual lecture fundraisers, she has raised thousands of dollars for student scholarships and assistance for victims of AIDS.
